1930 Sagua la Grande, Las Villas, Cuba.

Painter, draftsman, engraver, and ceramist, considered one of the most important Cuban artists in the visual arts and design.

He studied at the Elementary School of Applied Plastic Arts, attached to the San Alejandro Plastic Arts Academy, in Havana, Cuba.

In 1960 and 1965 he dedicated himself to painting and making woodcuts, and received successive awards at this last technique. He was appointed a member of the Cuban Association of Engravers and teached several courses in drawing and engraving at the National School of Art Instructors.

In 1965 he entered the Experimental Graphic Workshop in Havana and began in ceramics at the Cubartesanía Workshop in Cubanacán.

In 1973, he placed a mural made up of 555 ceramic pieces on the mezzanine of the Hotel Habana Libre.

In 1997 he received the National Prize for Plastic Arts, the highest level award given in Cuba to renowned creators in the field of plastic arts.

All his work has been exhibited at the most important Biennials in the world and at International Fairs. In June 2007 he received the Italian Order of Merit, awarded for his works made in Murano, bringing great beauty and majesty to Italian culture.

He currently lives and works in Cuba.
