Eduardo Ponjuan

1956, Pinar del Río, Cuba.

He studied at the Provincial School of Art, Pinar del Río, from 1970 to 1974, at the National School of Art, Havana from 1974 to 1978 and graduated from the Higher Institute of Art of Havana in 1983. Since then, he has had dissimilar. personal and group exhibitions; and important awards such as the National Curatorial Award in 2007 and the National Plastic Arts Award, awarded by the National Council of Plastic Arts of Cuba in 2013.

Painter, draftsman, installationist, conceptual artist and inexhaustible thinker. His work emerged in the 1980s and he is one of the essential artists of contemporary Cuban art.

Professor of painting at the Faculty of Plastic Arts of the Higher Institute of Art, Havana, Cuba, in the period from 1987 to 2003.

The National Museum of Fine Arts and the Wifredo Lam Center in Havana, Cuba, collect his works.

Lives and works in Havana.
