El ARBOL ROJO is proud to promote the latest book presented at the National Museum of Fine Arts, Havana, Cuba. This is Corina Matamoros' recent book IF I LOSE MEMORY.
Corina Matamoros is an Art Critic, Curator, Museologist, Researcher and Writer. Graduate in Art History and Museology. She holds the Special Diploma in Museology from the School of the Louvre, Paris. She has been working at the National Museum of Fine Arts since 1978, attending to the Collection of Contemporary Cuban Art in the permanent rooms of this institution.
These are essays on some of the recent works of twenty prominent contemporary Cuban artists. The selected creators, born between the 50s and 70s of the 20th century, renewed the art of the island with their proposals. Their contributions to the plastic and visual arts since their creation, and in some cases also from teaching, led them to achieve national and international recognition. The author describes and analyzes her works; places them in their artistic, social and cultural context, and reflects on their meanings and objectives. At the same time, it outlines the characteristics and changes of Cuban art in recent times.
