Cuban filmmaker and painter. Nephew of the poet Nicolás Guillén.
He studied painting and later entered the University of Havana to study Social and Political Sciences, which he later left to dedicate himself to radio locution. In 1961 he began to work at ICAIC and worked in different occupations, among them, Assistant Director.
He always kept painting, and in 1989 he went to live in Miami, Florida. In 2001 he co-directed his last documentary.
In 2002 and 2003, the Young Filmmakers' Show sponsored by ICAIC premiered most of its titles in the PRIZES A LA SOMBRA section.
