Painter, engraver and set designer.
Between 1972 and 1976 he studied Painting and Engraving at the National School of Art in Havana. From 1982 to 1986 he studied Scenographic Design. In 1983 he participated in the International New Theater Workshop and in 1987 he passed the Design of Scenographic Lights course.
In 1979 he was curator of the Fresh Painting Exhibition at the Art Gallery in Cienfuegos. In 1991 he also served as curator of the show Tesoros de Tamulté 1990, at the Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, Mexico. From 1993 to date he has been an artistic consultant for Teatro Avante, in Miami, Florida. In 1997 he served as professor of costume and set design in the Department of Theater and Dance at NY State University, Buffalo.
He has obtained several recognitions throughout his career, among which are, the Prize in scenographic design, lights and costumes at the Camaguey Theater Festival, in 1983. In 1987 he won the prize for scenographic design at the Quadrennial of Scenic Design, in Prague, Slovenia. In 1994 he was recognized with the Carbonell Award for the best production of the year for the play: Mirando al tendido, with the Avante Theater, Miami, Florida; two years later in 1996 he obtained the title of Artist in Residence, from the University of Buffalo, in New York, United States.
The National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana, Cuba, treasures some of his works.
