Nilo Castillo

Show Art

Plastic Artist and Musician.

In the year 86 and 87 he began to work at the René Portocarrero Serigraphy Workshop. As a recent graduate of the San Alejandro Academy, he came with a rather idyllic vision of the art world.

He made performance and public interventions. He collaborated with Grupo Arte Calle.

His artistic concern points to popular culture, inclusion of elements of speech and everyday life, great influence of the graffiti that was seen in the streets of Havana, the humorous element as a way of facing the worrying issues of the day to day and on the other hand the direct influence of the artistic tendencies of the so-called Transvanguardia, of artists such as David Salle, Clemente, Basquiat in the international sphere and closer artists such as Carlos Alberto de La Nuez and Flavio Garciandía.

Currently, he lives and works in Havana, Cuba.
