Cuban painter, printmaker and sculptor, whose stage name is Choco.

He studied at the School of Arts Instructors in 1963 and at the National School of Art in 1970. He graduated with a Bachelor of Art History from the University of Havana.

He has done important teaching work in institutions of the specialty in Cuba and Spain.

He is considered one of the greatest Cuban engravers of his generation. His style is accentuated in lithographs, as well as engraved and deeply worked surfaces. He developed his work in colagraphy, a process that is mainly pictorial. Through this technique, Choco achieves remarkable textures to give chiaroscuro and a sensual depth that tempts viewers to touch the works and gives the appearance that the images are in motion. It holds a deep Afro-Cuban symbolism.

In 2017 he was awarded the National Prize for Plastic Arts, Havana, Cuba and has been recognized with the Diploma of Artistic Merit and the Category of Consulting Professor by the Higher Institute of Art of Havana.

His works are treasured in Cuba by the National Museum of Fine Arts and Casa de las Américas, in Havana, Cuba, among others.

He currently lives and works in Havana.
